Jon Connolly is the most sought-after Pro Tools instructor in the world.<\/h3>\n

Having been with Avid since the company first started out as DigiDesign in the early \u201890s, he quickly became their Product Specialist in Los Angeles, offering Pro Tools installations, training, and support to major studios like Warner Bros., Universal, Capitol, The Village, Record One, Westlake, and more.<\/p>\n

Today, Jon is a Pro Tools Master Instructor for Avid, travelling the world and training Pro Tools users of all levels. He also teaches at the world-renowned Berklee College of Music.<\/p>\n

In this segment, Jon teaches you how to install Pro Tools software.<\/h2>\n

The first step is to head to Avid’s website<\/a> and decide which version of Pro Tools is right for you<\/a><\/strong>. The software is both Mac and PC compatible, and first-time users have the option of downloading the free version of Pro Tools, called \u201cFirst.\u201d There are also both Standard and Ultimate versions of the software. Detailed information about each can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

You should also consider Pro Tools\u2019 compatibility for your current operating system.<\/strong> This chart by Avid stays up-to-date with the latest Pro Tools software release information,<\/a> and on which Mac\/Windows operating systems its functional.
\nAfter you\u2019ve purchased Pro Tools software from either Avid or a chosen reseller, the next step is to create your Avid Master Account<\/strong>. By following the instructions on the physical card or in your email after purchase, AVID directs you exactly where to go on the website to create your free Master Account.<\/p>\n

Once you\u2019ve done this, you\u2019ll be able to access and download your purchased Pro Tools software from the \u201cMy Products\u201d section<\/strong> of your Master Account. Navigate to the \u201cMy Products and Subscriptions\u201d page and find your purchased software. At this point, you\u2019ll want to click the small blue \u201cShow\u201d button next to \u201cProduct Details and Download Links.\u201d Here you\u2019ll find the downloadable installers for your Pro Tools software.<\/p>\n

Be sure to also download installers for AVID\u2019s First AIR Instruments and Effects<\/strong> bundles and XPand!2<\/strong>. They\u2019ll be located beneath the Pro Tools installers, as both Windows and Mac options. You may also want to grab the Avid Loopmasters Sample<\/strong> Pack, located just beneath the Pro Tools installers. It includes one-shots and loops for a variety of different instruments.<\/p>\n

Finally, you\u2019ll have access to an Avid version of an awesome software synth called Falcon<\/strong>, for which you will also find the download in the \u201cProduct Details\u201d section.<\/p>\n
