No way! While we do use Pro Tools, in today’s world of DAW’s, there is no “correct” choice. The concepts and techniques that we teach will apply to any major DAW like Logic, Ableton, Cubase, Reaper, Fruity Loops, Studio One and other similar platforms. All of these DAWs have great stock plugins, which can do just as much as Protools stock plugins.
Mixing In The Box with Phil Allen covers a Pop/Rock song, but your can apply the techniques and concepts he is teaching in this course across all genres.
Not exclusively, but you will absolutely see us using some stock plugins!
This course is designed to give you an UNDERSTANDING of the mixing process. Rather than teaching a bunch of techniques that only apply to specific source material, Phil teaches you what to listen for and how you can achieve the desired results regardless of the DAW and plugins you own. Second, Phil isn’t just a highly skilled and accredited engineer, but also a highly skilled educator! There are many great engineers — and many of great teachers — but few excel at both. Phil communicates complex ideas in an easy to understand and digestible way.
