Grammy-nominated mixer, engineer, and producer Dan Malsch is known for his powerful modern rock and metal mixes, combining aggressive sonics with clarity, depth, and musicality. With a career spanning more than two decades, Dan has built a reputation for delivering polished, hard-hitting productions while preserving the energy and emotion of the original performance.
Dan recently mixed Ghost’s chart-topping album Skeletá, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, and has also worked extensively with the band across stereo and Dolby Atmos releases. His mixing approach combines SSL console workflow, hybrid analogue summing, detailed automation, and bold drum and vocal processing, making him one of the most respected names in modern heavy music production.
Working out of his Soundmine Recording facility in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, Dan has collaborated with artists across rock and metal, as well as alongside acclaimed producers and mixers including Andy Wallace, David Bendeth, Toby Wright, Jim Morris, Steve Lyon, Ross Hogarth, Brett Hestla, Shep Goodman, and many more.
Known for his meticulous attention to detail and adaptable workflow, Dan’s mixes are characterized by massive drums, controlled low end, wide guitars, and vocals that cut through dense arrangements without sacrificing impact or feel. His recent work in immersive audio and Dolby Atmos mixing has also become a major focus of his productions.
